Join me for a creative 2 day basketry workshop using colourful locally grown willow and gathered hedgerow materials such as dogwood, old man’s beard & bramble.

Willow Sciathog Friday 4th April 10am-4pm, Potager Gardens, Constantine £95 including materials The Sciathog is a traditional Irish frame basket originally used for sieving potatoes. Today this beautiful basket would work well serving food as a platter or as a fruit bowl on your table. In this one day workshop, we will be making a small version of this basket, making hoops, a long centre scallom and placing ribs symmetrically. Wooden Handled Asymmetric Basket
Monday & Tuesday 14th & 15 th April 10-4pm,
Balwest, near Helston
£185 including all materials, tea and cake
We will be making these beautiful and distinctive baskets using locally grown colourful willow and a foraged wooden handle.
You will learn to weave a round base and stake up using traditional tools and techniques. You will learn waling and a variety of side weaves and will border down with the rather wonderful contemporary Stanislaw border incorporating a wooden handle.
You can bring your own chosen piece of wood if you would like.
Suitable for beginners and improvers.

Leather Handled Little willow Basket
Friday 16th May 10-4pm Potager Gardens, near Constantine £100 including materials Join me to make this little basket with gorgeous locally grown natural willow and a leather handle. It is a perfect introduction to willow basketmaking. Learn traditional stake and strand techniques working from a round base including pairing, waling, randing, bordering down, and then give this little basket a contemporary twist with a veg tanned leather handle. This beautiful basket would work well collecting berries or eggs or carrying tools or seeds in the garden. Suitable for beginners and improvers. In a course designed for all abilities including beginners, we will work from a Catalan oval base and make a strong and beautiful basket , with hemp rope handles and natural colourful sides. We will have a super long lunch break that will include a walk down to the cove for a swim or sunbathe. A simple vegetarian lunch will be provided. The aim is to make a basket, learn new skills and to enjoy where we will be and feel refreshed at the end!
